Hi all! Latha math!
I finally pushed the button on joining, just to see what its like on this side of things. My actionable journey began only a year ago, but its been a passive connection my whole life. I started with an oracle deck and slowly built up to home rituals, ancestral work, and so on. Ginny has been a huge step in accelerating the effectiveness and reach of my craft, and for that I’m very appreciative. My main focuses are blending Scottish and Appalachian folk practices together as faithfully as possible, while adapting to my current life where necessary. Witches who lives in southern Appalachia can probably see why. Anyone else who focuses on either of these? Would love to connect with others here!!

I too am from southern Appalachians myself although I have lived in England and Wales for the past 25 years. Obviously we have lots of similarities in Appalachian traditional and British practices as our ancestors brought over their folk beliefs from Britain with them. You probably have family members who used to plant ‘by the signs’ just like I did or know someone who could predict the weather by where the crows were in the field. There are lots of great resources out there for both Scottish and Appalachian folklore and they will blend well together. The Carmina Gadelica has lots of information on the beliefs and practices of the Scottish Highlands of islands but is a bit controversial, and if you can find copies of the Foxfire books still they are terrific for Appalachian traditional practices. They will not look overtly ‘witchy’ on sitting on you bookshelf at home either, which would definitely be a concern of mine if I were back home!
